Tamarind Covered Candy Apples

  • 6 red apples
  • 12 Palebolas – natural tamarind candy +
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 TBSP Chamoy +
  • Tajin Chili & Lime spie for drizzling +
  • 6 wooden sticks

Tamarind covered apples are a popular Mexican sweet treat that combines the crisp freshness of apples with the bold sweet, tangy, and spicy flavours of tamarind candy. Often found at fairs, markets, and candy shops across Mexico, they are loved for their fun mix of fruity, spicy, and chewy textures in every bite. 🍎🌶️

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Wash and dry the apples very well. Insert a wooden stick into each apple.
  2. In a pot over low heat, combine the tamarind pulp, sugar, water and Chamoy. Stir until thick and smooth.
  3. Let the mixture cool slightly until it becomes sticky but still easy to spread.
  4. Cover each apple evenly with the tamarind mixture using a spoon or clean hands.
  5. Sprinkle the chili powder.
  6. Place the apples on parchment paper and let them set for about 20–30 minutes.
