Tomatillos are also called ‘Tomate Verde’ which means green tomato.However, they are NOT UNRIPE TOMATOES. They are actually a relative to the gooseberry. The fruit of the tomatillo is green and the size of a large cherry tomato. They grow to maturity inside of a husk. Tomatillos are an important ingredient in many Mexican dishes.
Tomatillos are used as a base for salsas and sauces which can be served with chicken, fish, pork, vegetables and beef.
Refrigerate after opening in a sealed container and use within 4 weeks.
